Well we kinda knew Night Fury was going to be a mission but we didn't quite realise how much of a mission it would be. We got into a routine for 3 weeks where all we did was wake up(11am), go to the deli for lunch(12pm) eat lasagne or panini or both, go to 7/11 to get food supplies(2pm) then head in the mountains to lug around lights, light stands and a generator in the snow for 8 hours, snowboard(11or12pm), pack up lights etc(1-2am), drive to 7/11 buy food again(3am), go to bed(4am),sleep (11am) repeat. It was a gruelling schedule but we saw a funny side to how hard it was. We turned into night people, it was real cool being up in the mountains at night. There was never anyone else around and it was fun just to snowboard with mates and have everything to ourselves. We would spend hours in the van driving, exploring, looking for stuff to ride, everyone was getting van fever. The visits to 7/11 were not really enjoyed yet frequent and I'd laugh every time we pulled up there for there was really no other options. We would walk around for 15 or 20 minutes trying to decide what food out of all the food you are sick of eating you want to eat the most. It was awesome to be hanging with buddies, snowboarding and working on our project although I doubt any of us will be shooting Night Fury 2 any time soon.
We started filming last night for a project we have had in the works for a while. Last year we filmed episode 3 of Japan Journals under lights in the backcountry. This year with the help of Burton Snowboards, Red Bull, Rhythm Snowboard Shop and Syrp we are taking it to the next level, investing in better lighting and equipment we want to go further and bigger than we did before.. And after a week here it was rad to go rip a few turns, test everything out and get a feel for what the next few weeks are going to be like!!
